Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • Season the steaks with salt and pepper to taste.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil.
  • Cook for 30 seconds after adding the garlic.
  • Cook the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Place the steaks in the oven for 5-6 minutes.
  • Remove the steaks from the oven and set aside for 5 minutes to rest.
  • In the meantime, make the red wine sauce by combining red wine and beef broth in a skillet.
  • Bring to a boil and reduce by half.
  • Whisk in the butter and flour until smooth.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cook potatoes in salted water until tender in a separate pot.
  • Return potatoes to pot after draining.
  • Mash in the milk, butter, and salt until smooth.
  • Serve the steaks with mashed potatoes and a red wine sauce on the side.
