Steak frites with garlic and red wine sauce, a classic French bistro dish, is a simple yet delicious meal ideal for a special occasion or a weekend dinner. The tender, juicy beef is seasoned with salt and pepper and cooked to perfection, while the crispy french fries and rich red wine sauce pair perfectly with the steak.

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Instructions

  • Season the steaks with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare steaks in the skillet.
  • Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside for 5 minutes to rest.
  • Cook the french fries according to package directions while the steaks rest.
  • Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in the same skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook for 1 minute, or until the garlic is fragrant.
  • To the skillet, add the red wine and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the steaks with the fries and sauce on the side.
