This medium rare steak recipe with fried potatoes and garlic butter is a delicious and easy way to enjoy a traditional steak dinner. The combination of tender, juicy steak, crispy potatoes, and rich garlic butter will not disappoint.

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  • Wash the potatoes and cut them into thin rounds.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the potatoes on a baking sheet.
  • Toss to coat and season with salt and pepper.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are crispy and golden brown.
  • Season the steaks liberally with salt and pepper while the potatoes are cooking.
  • Over high heat, heat a cast-iron skillet.
  • Pour in just enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until a golden crust forms, in the skillet with the steaks.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the butter and garlic.
  • Baste the steaks with the garlic butter for 1-2 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium rare.
  • Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside for 5 minutes to rest before slicing.
  • Serve the sliced steaks alongside the fried potatoes and any other sides of your choice.
