Perfect Filet Mignon in Garlic Butter Recipe

This recipe makes perfectly cooked fillet mignon steaks with a tasty garlic butter sauce. The steaks are seared on the stovetop first to create a crispy crust, then finished in the oven to achieve a perfectly cooked interior. The garlic butter sauce enhances the flavor of the steaks.

Instructions

  • Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and set them aside for 30 minutes to come to room temperature.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • On both sides, season the steaks with kosher salt and black pepper.
  • Over high heat, heat an oven-safe skillet.
  • Sear the steaks in the skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until browned.
  • Allow the butter, garlic, and thyme to melt in the skillet.
  • Spread the garlic butter on top of the steaks.
  • Place the skillet in the oven for 5-7 minutes to achieve medium-rare doneness.
  • Remove the skillet from the oven and set aside for 5 minutes before slicing and serving the steaks.
